Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Sanibel Community Church in Sanibel, FL as they search for their next Director of Worship and Communications. Sanibel Community is an anchor ministry on the beautiful island of Sanibel, FL. They have a rich tradition and an exciting opportunity to make a great Kingdom impact in the days ahead. The church is recovering from the hurricane that hit the island last fall. They are in a process of rebuilding and need this critical role for the church to continue strengthening and growing.

The Director of Worship and Communications at Sanibel Community Church (SCC) is a full-time position that oversees the church’s music ministry (roughly one-third of the role) and serves with the pastoral team to shepherd the whole congregation (roughly two-thirds of the role). This position will report to the Senior Pastor (SP).

The ideal candidate will be:

Agreement with SCC’s doctrines, distinctives and membership covenant

Alignment with SP’s philosophy of ministry and direction

Meets the qualifications for elder/overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-5

Proven ability to lead and administrate a church worship ministry

Proven ability to manage programs, volunteers and paid staff

Master of Divinity or equivalent preferred

5 years of related experience preferred

Warm, people-oriented, able to relate to people from a wide range of ages and denominational backgrounds

RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Responsibilities:

Lead Sunday morning singing regularly

Lead regular rehearsals

Work with pastoral team to evaluate and plan weekly worship services and select songs

Recruit, audition, and train vocalists, musicians, and worship leaders from the church membership

Develop policies related to music and worship

Oversee paid music and A/V staff

Administrate volunteer schedules

Pastoral Responsibilities:

Work with SP, pastoral staff and elders to shepherd church members toward maturity in Christ

Make disciples through teaching classes, leading small groups and engaging in one-to-one discipleship

Work with pastoral staff to lead various church disciple-making efforts, with specific programs assigned based upon the needs of the church and the skills and responsibilities of the members of the pastoral team

Participate in the work of pastoral visitation and in conducting weddings and funerals

Occasional preaching
