Position’s salary range is $75,000 to $100,000. Starting annual salary, which will be based on applicant’s qualifications, is expected to be between $75,000 and $87,500.This Department Head position plans and directs activities of the Planning Department and performs related work as required. The position performs professional tasks in the administration and enforcement of municipal planning functions: comprehensive planning; zoning, subdivision, site plan, storm water management regulations, and erosion and sedimentation control regulations; historic district ordinances; downtown revitalization and community economic development; and capital improvements programming. The position assists town manager and deputy town manager with tasks as needed and typically staffs several evening meetings every month.The position requires a person who is highly organized and able to prioritize among competing demands. Position’s duties also require attention to detail, ability to work independently on projects and meet deadlines, superior written communications skills, and public relations expertise.Applicants with a master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field from an accredited university are preferred; however, applicants with a bachelor’s degree (in the aforementioned disciplines) from an accredited university with at least two years of experience in urban planning will be considered.The Town of Berryville offers excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement, and paid leave and holidays.An investigation of credit history and criminal background will be required.
