)Under the direction of the Medical Director of the psychiatric infusion clinic, the infusion nurse will provide direct clinical care with a primary focus on outpatient infusion. This role requires a licensed registered nurse with substantial infusion experience. The infusion nurse will collaborate with the attending psychiatrist and anesthesiologist to achieve optimal patient outcomes, and will work closely with non-professional administrative support staff to ensure smooth clinical operations.The principal responsibility of the infusion nurse is to provide direct patient care with a high level of respect and sensitivity to a highly specialized patient population. The psychiatric infusion clinic will treat patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicidal ideation. S/he is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, effective, compassionate, and individualized nursing care for patients and their families.The psychiatric infusion clinic operates on

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. To be eligible for this position, you must be able and willing to work during one or both of those evenings each week.Primary responsibilities include: setting up clinic sessions with all necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring accuracy of patient consent documentation, inserting and removing IVs, administering medication via syringe pump, documenting in the patient record, monitoring for reactions during and after infusions, collaborating with the psychiatrist, anesthesiologist, and administrative staff, confirming follow-up appointments, ensuring patients are safe for discharge, doing patient check-out, and providing patient and family education.Experience working with a psychiatric patient population is strongly preferredFamiliar with patient consent protocolsSuccessfully places and removes IVsAdministers medications safely and competently according to policyAccurately completes nursing documentation in EPIC according to policy and procedureUnderstands end-of-visit and follow-up process/proceduresGraduation from an accredited nursing program, new graduates must have a BSN degree.Experience working with a psychiatric patient population is strongly preferredFamiliar with patient consent protocolsSuccessfully places and removes IVsAdministers medications safely and competently according to policyAccurately completes nursing documentation in EPIC according to policy and procedureUnderstands end-of-visit and follow-up process/proceduresGraduation from an accredited nursing program, new graduates must have a BSN degree.Massachusetts General Hospital is an Affirmative Action Employer.
