Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday are designated as enterprise core days, when we expect most employees in hybrid work arrangements to come to the office. Available office locations: Chicago IL or Hartford, CT.Job Responsibilities:

New Business and Renewal Analysis/loss analysis and prepping entire account for quotesPrepare and issue Ratings, Policies, Endorsements and follow up for missing subjectivitiesRating analysis is required for new and renewal prep work and underwriting thought processReview and analyze Endorsement requests, escalate issues as required, process endorsementsServe as a point of contact for brokers and underwriters and provide optimal customer service experience on behalf of the companyCareful adherence to compliance standards and excellent maintenance of account files, underwriting documentationParticipation in projects, as neededMain Systems Used:

Outlook/Image Right/Policy Decisions/web-based vendors such as FMCSA and LexisNexis. (Genius knowledge a plus but not required)Agency Management & Client Relations:

Serve as a critical partner to the underwriting teams within the Global Specialty Wholesale organization.Routine, structured and high complexity of caseload and assignment workAccountable for the overall and entire service experience, facilitating functional experts and delivering a differentiated experience.Builds and maintains relationships with key broker contacts and decision makers through regular interaction regarding new account marketing, renewal retention, quoting and delivery of excellent customer service.May accompany underwriters on marketing visits in order to establish working relationship (target: 3 per year).Prepares submissions for rating and acts as the gatekeeper between the Broker, Underwriter and the Operations Service Center.Underwriting Support:

Performs rating on all new and renewal submissions, generates rating worksheet in preparation of quote, analyze loss runs and MVRs, preps underwriting reportsPrepares renewal portfolio in preparation of underwriting reviewWorks independently to proactively maintain timeliness of information in the underwriting files.Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external customers.Support sales efforts through an understanding of Global Specialty Wholesale strategies and industry programs.Uses strong information gathering and diagnostic skills to solve problems.Workflow Distribution:

Coordinate activities for all support tasks (Rating, Policy Issuance, Endorsements, Broker information, Filings, Risk Engineering, Follow-ups, etc.) on new business submissions and renewal accounts.Prioritizes workload based upon varying service level agreements and customer needs.Monitors work performance to ensure quality objectives and service commitments are achieved.Facilitates routing of tasks and work between Underwriters, Technical Assistance, and Operation Service Center.Project / Backup Support:

Backs up other Account Managers as needed.May support various projects as determined by Operations and/or underwriting staff.Qualifications:

Prior Commercial Market Insurance industry experience as an Account Manager or Underwriting Assistant at either an insurance carrier/agency requiredKnowledge of the following insurance coverages: Commercial Auto, General Liability, Excess LiabilityFunctional knowledge of Commercial Lines rating experienceStrong Customer Service orientation and Relationship Building skillsEffective Communication Skills / Written and VerbalStrong technical abilityAbility to work in a fast-paced and high-volume work environmentProfessional demeanorProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point software. Knowledge of ImageRight, other insurance platforms also desired.Ability to support central time zone business hoursCompensation:

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
