The Application Engineer will provide detailed design and engineering support for specifically defined projects in support of Marketing & Sales, with moderate level of supervision.Major Tasks and Responsibilities

Interface with internal and external customers to provide technical advice and suitable engineering solutions to maintain and/or grow sales.Contribute to the advancement of essential Covestro technologies such as part/mold design, advanced processing and engineering technologies, joining technologies and CAE capability.Provide detailed part and assembly feasibility studies to Marketing application initiatives.As part of development team, support next generation application projects in industries such as Healthcare, Mobility, Electrical/Electronics, Battery Packaging, Composites, others.Under supervision develop and present customer seminars and design reviews.Troubleshoot customer design and manufacturing problems.Understanding of engineering fundamentals in the design and engineering of plastic parts including material characterization and strength of materials.Demonstrated competence in finite element analysis and modelling.A working understanding of the various CAE techniques commonly used in component manufacturing such as structural analysis, thermal simulation, etc.Solid knowledge of properties of materials, processing fundamentals, part design and mold design in order to advise internal and external customers in support of Covestro sales.Working as part of team, troubleshoot technical problems to arrive at solutions that support the technical and business goals.WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering with 1+ year(s) of relevant technical experience.Preferred Qualifications:Proven experience in CAE software (SolidWorks, ABAQUS, Moldflow).Essential Knowledge and Skills:Relevant education and experience such as mechanical component design.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with external customers and multidisciplinary groups within Covestro.Effective communication and presentation skills.Leadership experience and skills.Organizational and project management skills.YOUR APPLICATION
