We are actively seeking experienced Structural Engineer Divers at our Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA office. As the successful Engineer Diver, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients - primarily in the Louisiana area. Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad will also be required. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and bridges through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm's hallmark in several primary practice areas - ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy.Duties and responsibilities:Conducts and/or supervises site investigations of marine structures, bridges, etc.Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled and that the contracted deliverable is submitted on schedule and as budgetedWorks collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplinesAnalyzes deteriorated components of marine structures to assess load capacityPrepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentationAssists in business development activities such as proposals and cost estimates for the Inspection & Rehabilitation Discipline in the Louisiana areaPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer licensure in Louisiana or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hireCertified Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADASNHI/NBIS bridge inspection qualifications a plus4 to 10 years of related experienceProven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspectionsCapability to lead and work effectively as part of a teamPossess a valid driver's license in good standingAbility and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional; however typical travel can be up to 1 to 2 weeks in durationAbility to obtain security clearances required by the US Navy strongly preferredPossession of or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferredStrong communication skills (written and verbal) as well as attention to detailGood planning, organizational and time management skillsSelected candidate must consent to and pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screeningAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hireWorking conditions:Office work requires ongoing design work requiring focusField work requires diving in waters and exposure to extreme elementsMust be able to move among a variety of simultaneous prioritiesSome extended days, evenings, and weekend work requirementsPhysical requirements:ADCI (or equivalent) diving requires specific physical conditioning and strengthField work requires incumbent to carry diving and inspection equipment over unpaved, rural, and unmarked terrainThe incumbent must be able to lift, carry, climb, and navigate in a small boat.
