Our programs focus on natural supports, experiential learning, education, and a therapeutic approach with expertise in trauma-effective care.Wages & Benefits$18 - $20 per hour; Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST), agency-sponsored retirement plan with immediate vesting, plus a 3% employer match.ScheduleThis is a hybrid role with essential work happening in person with families and the ability to complete some administrative work at home (or in FamilyWise's office, if preferred), and does include evening & weekend hours.A Typical Day in the Life...A typical day as FamilyWise's Mentoring Specialist provides an opportunity to connect with young parents and promote the mentor relationship opportunities, and will include the following:Case ManagementEnrolling young parents (mentees) and their children into the program.Providing support to both mentors and mentees to ensure match.Assigning a trained adult mentor to a young family.Coordinating professional services outside of FamilyWise for clients.Participating in meetings regarding clients, including agency and community partnership meetings.Providing 1:1 parent education sessions to youth based on curriculum and expertise.Maintaining client files by recording significant events and changes.Maintaining all private information concerning clients in a manner that preserves client privacy.Connecting with community agencies to increase awareness of the program and connect with potential mentees.Administrative TasksMaintaining data entry pertinent to Bright Beginnings program.Assisting with recruitment of volunteer mentors including, but not limited to, selection of volunteers, assisting with interviewing process and pairing young families with mentors, complete and maintain records for year-end evaluation.Facilitating Bright Beginnings mentor training.Maintaining records for all required safety training for education records.Assisting with volunteer mentor follow-up.Assisting with volunteer support/education records.Assisting in the planning and facilitation of educational/support groups and social events for young parents, their children, families and mentors participating in the program. This includes planning craft projects, purchasing items necessary for the events, identifying and reserving speakers, ordering and purchasing food, maintaining attendance records and facilitating the social/educational events as necessary.Who You AreYou have an associate degree in Child Development/Childhood Family Education/ Social Work/Nursing or related field and/or 3-5 years' experience working with high-risk adolescents or young parents (B.A. or B.S. preferred).You have experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.You have knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in lower socio-economic conditions.You can speak multiple languages (highly valued).Your organizational skills are strong, and you can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.You understand the importance of customer service and professionalism.You have skills in conflict management.You are computer literate and have experience in MS Office.You can work both independently and as part of a team.You are able to travel to client sites within 15-mile radius of the office.You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet FamilyWise's driving record requirements.
