Summary

The Director, Analytics will lead the Analytics team for the Home Segment of Newell Brands. This position will lead and develop a team of experts in building and leading reporting and analysis that assesses the industry landscape, identifies and shapes consumer, customer and category growth plans and expansion opportunities, and supports critical ad-hoc strategic initiatives. Leveraging syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, and market trends, the Director will lead the development of comprehensive plans to enable greater sell-through, market share gains, and drive overall business growth. These insights will be leveraged across functional teams to ensure cohesive messaging and execution throughout the segment. This position works as a strategic leader, translating extensive knowledge of the category to develop plans to drive profitable business results.

Key ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Category Intelligence

Act as subject matter expert for the Segment and provide thought leadership to internal constituents as well as external customers.Lead strategy for competitive landscape reporting tools resources and deliver regular category/competitive assessments.Serve as the expert on the use of syndicated and household panel data to assist the cross-functional team in the development of strategies and tactics.Partner in key Customer meetings as the credible Category expert.Reporting and Data Analytics

Master category purchase drivers, trip missions, shopper need states, etc. and liaise with Customer Development and Category Management on executional strategies.Provide insight and perspective on marketplace dynamics, shifts and trends for Home segment categories to form business recommendations.Provide direction into category definition and product hierarchy and ensure consistency across data providers.Shopper Understanding

Synthesize large amounts of data (e.g. Shopper Research, POS, loyalty card information, registry, etc.) into actionable insights and strategic plans.Use knowledge of shopper and consumer to recommend optimal category assortments, flows, adjacencies, cross merchandising opportunities, etc.Build in-store category innovation into all category leadership discussions (e.g. aisle reinvention, store of the future, disruptive merchandising strategies, etc.).Business Analytics

Lead team to develop data-based financial decisions such as pricing, budgeting and revenue and share growth drivers.Analyze media, marketing and promotional effectiveness and partner with team to optimize spend to drive the business.Identify and quantify business and innovation opportunities based on consumer, customer, market and competitive insights.Team Leadership

Lead the team to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and prioritize and resource effectively.Responsible for building a high-performance Analytics team by attracting, developing and retaining top talent.Effectively builds partnerships, leads team, and resolves challenges.Experience

Proven track record of translating large amounts of data from multiple sources into actionable insights and using those insights to advise and influence business strategy.Ability to thrive and drive strong data-based decisions in highly complex and ambiguous environments, with a bias for action.Extensive experience conveying complex issues with excellent storytelling, communication and presentation skills.Strategic leader, self-starter with demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.Expert analytical skills and experience with syndicated data, measures and software (e.g. NPD, Nielsen/Nitro, IRI, Consumer Panel, Spectra, ECRM or Market Track, XP3, etc.).Ability to build strong sustainable business relationships at all levels and functions of the organization.Experience as an inspirational leader with the proven ability to lead and manage a high-performance Analytics team, and to attract, develop and retain top talent.Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business/quantitative field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required.MBA preferred.12+ years of analytics experience working with a leading CPG, retailer or brand and/or data analytics company.8+ years of management experience leading a successful team and cultivating talent.
