This means the candidate is expected to report to the Sunnyvale Technical Center, CA three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency as per business requirements.SDV TeamThe Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver state of the art Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform. This role requires a high level of expertise and capability in software coding, development, issue resolution, debugging, and analysis for root cause.RoleWe are building an Infotainment platform software team which is tasked with developing the software that will run GM’s next generation infotainment system along with the tools needed to deliver and maintain it. This team is solely responsible for developing and maintaining GM’s entire infotainment software platform.We are looking for engineers with a very solid knowledge in developing QNX, Linux, or Android software solutions who are interested in applying their experience to deliver high quality software for future automotive infotainment systems.What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)Contribute as a developer to build and integrate Linux and Android components into a QNX/Linux based infotainment solution for automotive consumer devices.Responsible for the entire life cycle of the assigned domain, including requirements, system design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the infotainment software.Follow our Scrum/Agile software development process where quality comes first.Ensure that the designed solutions are performant and conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability, and security.Ensure communication “bridge” between various internal and external technical teams to make appropriate trade-offs, refine system requirements, and identify innovation opportunities.Provide clear and complete documentation.Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
5+ years in Software Development in related domains.Bachelors degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.Strong experience in system level Linux and Android systems, including understanding the Android framework and HALs as well as system resource usage (CPU, GPU, I/O) and ability to do performance profiling to find bottlenecks using tools like Perfetto, Bootchart, ftrace, and strace.Ability to debug problems in a complex existing code base in C, C++, Java, and scripting languages such as shell and Python.Familiarity with scrum/agile software development process and SCM tools like GitHub, Jira, and OpenGrok.What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Masters degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.7+ years in Software Development in related domains.Prior experience with embedded vehicle infotainment systems, automotive experiences, and/or portable consumer electronic devices.History of success driving system level investigations to find bottlenecks and fix them to ensure good overall system performance.Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.The salary range for this role is $93K to $232K.
