Description
The Director of Sales is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing sales operational excellence and efficiency within the organization. Serving on the Senior Leadership team, this role will lead the activities of the sales division, including online sales, with responsibility for the overall performance of the team.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information.Develop and implement strategies to improve sales performance.Identify and evaluate trends and options; choose a course of action; define objectives; evaluate outcomes.Work cross-departmentally with Marketing, Finance and Operations to drive business and promote new systems.Evaluate and modify sales processes to support the performance of the team.Presents and reviews monthly reports on performance against operating plans and standards.Works closely with Product Development Director in launches and promotions of all new products.Keep employees informed as to company/department plans and progress.Keep the company informed on operational objectives, goals and/or changes.Coordinates activities of assigned units with those of other company units. Seeks mutual agreement on problems involving coordination.Consults with all segments of management responsible for policy or action. Ensures compliance within area of responsibility. Makes recommendations for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures.Excels in troubleshooting, translating problems into practical solutions.Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.Requirements
B.S., Marketing, Management, Business or related discipline and 3 years at a director level or Senior Manager in a manufacturing company, with the responsibilities of sales, similar discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Order processing systems and Manufacturing software.Participative management type—advocates team concept.Well-developed interpersonal skills.Ability to get along with diverse personalities.Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities or qualifications associated with the job.Compensation
