POSITION SUMMARY :BUMC is recruiting a Physician Assistant for the Interventional Cardiology / Structural Heart Disease Service. Responsibilities include management and peri-procedural care of outpatient cardiac catheterization patients, as well as primary role as Valve Program Coordinator, which includes coordination of Cardiac Valve Clinic (in concert with CT surgery), navigating patients through valve/structural heart workups, and administrative duties involving structural heart registry follow-up. Under the general supervision of a cardiologist, the physician assistant would be responsible for providing relevant medical services which may include obtaining complete medical history and performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; counseling patients and families, and other patient care duties. Prior experience with cardiology or cardiac surgery is preferred.Position:

Qualified Physician Assistants will hold at least a Bachelor's degree and must be a graduate of a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) or its predecessor.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

In order to apply for the position, the PA must be National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts. Documentation of Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification are required upon hire. If prescribing medications is included in clinical duties and privileges, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in similar clinical setting/specialty is preferred.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Successful candidates will be self-directed, demonstrate initiative and professionalism, and exercise expert clinical judgment to function independently in this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English are required in order to communicate complex medical information to collaborators such as patients and their families, physicians, staff, and community health workers. Physician assistants who have exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are preferred.
