To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.We are looking for an experienced Design Manager with Rondo. In this critical role, you will spearhead the design and engineering efforts of complex infrastructure projects, leading a cross-functional team of talented designers to deliver innovative and practical solutions. You will play a pivotal role in aligning design strategies with project requirements across many engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process. Through effective communication and technical expertise, you will ensure seamless coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction teams while maintaining quality and adherence to project timelines.What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):Lead and manage a multidisciplinary design team comprised of architects, engineers, and drafters, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environmentProvide guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to achieve project objectivesDevelop design strategies that integrate seamlessly into the broader EPC project frameworkCollaborate closely across engineering and procurement departments to align design concepts with project specifications, cost constraints, and client requirementsOversee the design phase of projects, ensuring designs are compliant with industry standards, regulations, and client expectationsMaintain high standards of design quality, reviewing and approving design concepts, drawings, and specificationsIntegrate innovative technologies and sustainable practices into the design process to enhance project efficiency and performanceAllocate design resources effectively, balancing workload distribution and optimizing resource utilizationHighlight gaps and constraints across various stages of projectsIdentify opportunities for skill development and training to enhance the capabilities of the design teamIdentify and mitigate design-related risks, anticipating potential challenges and providing proactive solutions to ensure project success and client satisfactionCoordinate key project schedule requirements with Procurement and Construction partners for the overall success of the projectWhat You Will Bring:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Master's degree or equivalent experience is advantageous10 years of progressive experience in multi-disciplinary design management within an EPC firm or related industryPE or RA License preferredProficiency in relevant design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.) and a demonstrable portfolio showcasing successful design projects within the EPC domainStrong understanding of engineering disciplines, construction methodologies, and project management practicesExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teamsProven track record of managing complex design/engineering projects from conception to completionWhat We Offer:Comprehensive Medical BenefitsDental & Vision BenefitsLife Insurance and ADDUp to 13 paid holidays per year, in addition to a company week-long holiday in DecemberFlexible time off policy401(k) plan with company matchRondo HQ is close to Oakland airport - one block from the Bay - and has stunning Bay views!The preferred locations for this role are Alameda CA, Houston TX, or Kansas City KA, though other locations will be considered. This role requires up to 20% travel.
