Work with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand the business and customer value of your team's software and deliver the right solutions.Contribute significantly towards the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, code, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the team's software.Actively participate in operational support and ensure that the root causes of operational issues are identified and resolved. Also, demonstrate operational excellence in all your work.Actively participate in the code review process by providing meaningful feedback to others.Solve difficult and ambiguous problems with visible risks or roadblocks. Bring clarity to problems and identify simple designs for solutions.Design and deliver software solutions that enable new features, improve software, or deprecate existing software while making tradeoffs between feature and operational excellence to align with the team's long-term architectural strategy.Document what your team's software does; how it is constructed, tested, and operated; how secure it is; and how it fits into the bigger picture.Work effectively with the team, and help and mentor other engineers.Positively impact the software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of the team's software components.A day in the life
In this role you'll have the opportunity to influence Amazon Photos' thinking on customers engagement, education and our growth strategy.You will work with multiple teams across the Amazon Photos stack, from core services, to science, to client and feature teams driving a cohesive longterm vision for the technology that your team develops.You will solve tough software problems at scale, architecting and designing tools and systems of high quality.You will drive best practices and produce exemplary code.You will be excited to work with nimble and growing team. High ownership, invention, dive deep, high judgment, and strong bias for action are essential to succeed in this role.About The Team

Amazon Photos offers, and continues to build, such features, but a customer may not be aware of the ones that are most pertinent to them. The Engagement program's mission is to add value to customers by highlighting the features that are most applicable to the customer's use-case through their life-cycle journey with us. We want to be customer obsessed in how we make feature suggestions, where customers should look forward to, and be delighted by, our recommendations.The program aims to achieve this mission either by creating solutions directly, or by developing platforms for other teams to achieve the same.We're technology professionals, photographers and photo enthusiasts who are genuinely passionate about how we can make preserving and re-living photographs a simple joy. Our teams are diverse and we embrace that diversity. We're a close-knit team of friendly, collaborative people who love working together and having fun together. We're super smart and love learning. And we love dogs!Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming language.Preferred Qualifications
