We are currently seeking an experienced
Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygiene Inspector
to participate in asbestos, lead, mold and universal waste inspections in the New York metro area.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing routine site inspections, collecting bulk samples and creating reports according to applicable State and Federal protocols
Investigating indoor air quality and related water intrusion events
Conducting job site health & safety inspections
Performing air monitoring for asbestos abatement, lead and mold remediation activities
Interacting with management, contractors & sub-contractors, coordinating site meetings, developing scopes of work and implementing project schedules, as assigned
Requirements:
High School diploma required
AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred, but not required
Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred in performing and coordinating asbestos, lead paint, IAQ, water intrusion/mold, general industrial hygiene, and facility-related investigations, but willing to train the right candidate
A combination of the following certifications:
NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator
EPA AHERA / NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector, Project Designer, Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician
NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector
NYSDOL Mold Assessor
Working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, lead paint, etc.
Must be willing to travel to and from job sites within the NJ/NY area
Must be able to pass a physical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator
Must be available to occasionally work night or weekend hours may and/or extended shifts beyond 8 hours
Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT-regulated random drug & alcohol testing
Preferred, but not required:
Additional asbestos accreditations preferred: Management Planner/Supervisor/Project Designer
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
Secure Worker Access Consortium (SWAC)
Northeast state asbestos licensing (PA, NY, RI, MA, CT, etc.)
Experience performing other IH-related work and non-IH environmental work
Optional NJ/EPA accreditation as Lead Inspector / Risk Assessor
Experience performing health and safety oversight
Experience in construction management
