Prepares procedure rooms for endoscopic procedures, transports patients, processes scopes and instruments, provides technical services, assists during routine and complex endoscopic procedures, and assists with clerical duties in support of the department's documentation to ensure activities meet operating and Parkland standards.MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Must have two years experience in a procedure area or general patient care.Certification/Registration/Licensure:

Must have

current CPR-HeartSaver

certification from one of the following:American Heart AssociationAmerican Red Cross RescuerMilitary Training NetworkMust complete Associates GI Technical Specialist (GTS) or Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) training from the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) within six months of hire or placement in job.Skills or Special Abilities:

Must demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic and interventional procedures including Bronchoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EUS with FNA, EMR, etc. in order to assist with all endoscopic procedures.Must demonstrate a working knowledge of endoscopic equipment and accessories in order to maintain high level disinfection, sterilization, monitor its general working condition and assist with its use.Must be able to recognize and correct deviations from infection prevention procedures.Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff orally and in writing.Must be able to set priorities and perform under stressful situations.Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patients' needs.Must be able to work a change in shift, flexible hours when work or on-call responsibilities require such changes.Parkland Health and Hospital System prohibits discrimination based on age (40 or over), race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, disability, national origin, marital status, political belief, or veteran status.
