WHAT IS THE RESEARCH, APPLIED ANALYTICS AND STATISTICS DIVISION?A description of the business units can be found at: Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Research, Applied Analytics and Statistics.The following are the duties of this position at the full working level of GS-13:Plans and carries out major projects for collecting detailed economic data from tax and information returns and other primary sources.Takes a leading role in managing all project areas which includes determining user requirements, program content, sample design, information systems design, training field personnel, and data collection and correction procedures.Ensures file delivery and data publication.This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses.The following are the duties of this position at the full working level of GS-14:Performs a wide variety of economic studies to evaluate policies affecting tax administration and taxpayer compliance and to define feasible alternatives.This involves analyzing long-range effectiveness associated with the issues and resulting recommendations and their relationship to the mission and strategic goals of the IRS.Provides senior management with analyses of problems and authoritative economic advice on important decisions, which must be made under conditions of uncertainty.The following are the duties of this position at the full working level of GS-15:Performs a wide variety of economic studies to evaluate policies affecting tax administration and taxpayer compliance and to define feasible alternatives.This involves analyzing long-range effectiveness associated with the issues and resulting recommendations.Provides senior management with analyses of problems and authoritative economic advice on important decisions, which must be made under conditions of uncertainty.Requirements

Conditions of EmploymentTelework Eligible Positions : Employees must meet and sustain IRS telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the IRS Telework Program.Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check.Qualifications

To be eligible for this position you must have a bachelor's or higher degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.OR a combination of education and experience. The education must include courses equivalent to a major in economics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-11:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal Service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-12:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-13:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-14:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal Service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-15:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Service.Education

A 1-year probationary period is required.Career Ladder grades GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13.
