has an exciting opportunity for a
Bodily Injury Attorney
to defend lawsuits against GEICO insureds and represent GEICO in Bodily Injury, Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM), subrogation lawsuits filed in State court in Los Angeles, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.Renders opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.Prepares and handles pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.Defends by trial, arbitration, or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable.Adhere to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.Meet attendance guidelines standard of the business location, to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.
Basic Qualifications:Juris Doctorate required.Must be admitted/licensed to practice in California.4 years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.Currently licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, and meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.Flexibility to travel as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences.Skilled in learning and applying large amounts of technical and procedural information.Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to learn case handling software and work paperless.
Location – HYBRID:
This position requires 2-3 days working in the Los Angeles, CA Staff Counsel office during the training period (6-months). After successful completion, if metrics are met and maintained, the attorney may work from home 5 days per week, except for required in-person appearances and office meetings.
Annual Salary:$103,000.00 - $161,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
