As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. You'll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.
Responsibilities:
Lead a group of software professionals as a supervisor or leader of a functional organization (software). Role includes line manager who does performance goal setting and evaluation, skills mentoring / professional skills training, and career development for SW staff.
Lead an agile, collaborative, software product development team. The product is software which integrates multi-channel electronic intelligence sensors and provides a multi-operator user interface.
Lead software engineering proposals where you will perform task definition derived from system engineering requirements allocated to software and estimating work to accomplish those tasks.
Participate in software development process improvement activities in a leadership role across geographically disbursed sites. Develop and drive roadmap and implementation of new tool use and migration.
Excel as an interface to customer technical representatives, co-contractors, and sub-contractors in fast-paced, high-visibility, delivery environment.
Must-haves:
Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 12 or more years of relevant technical experience.
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
Extensive experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation.
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Leadership of software development team to include goal setting and evaluation, skills mentoring / professional skills training, and career development for SW staff. Strong communication and excellent people skills.
Experience with computer networking and command and control of networked equipment using TCP/IP and UDP protocols.
Leading a software project of 8+ persons and completing the project on cost and schedule while meeting the technical requirements.
Familiar with LINUX computer operating systems and cybersecurity methods used to protect them.
An active U.S. Security Clearance, Secret or above is mandatory to start. Ability to maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is required.
Preferred:
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry; Specifically, Electronics Intelligence (ELINT) and Electronic Support Measure (ESM) systems and the missions they support.
Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.
Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral.
Proficient with data structures.
Experience with DoD-focused open architecture specifications like VITA 49, MORA, or OMS.
