Manager - Accounts Payable

Plans, schedules, coordinates, and reviews accounting and related accounting clerical work in accounts payable. Supervises and trains assigned accounting clerical staff.

Essential Functions

Establishes and revises related accounting forms and procedures.Evaluates the performance of, disciplines, and recommends the hiring, firing, and promoting of assigned subordinate staff.Trains new employees in accounting or payables procedures.Interprets policies, procedures, and operating standards.Provides appropriate supervision, mentoring, and professional growth and development opportunities to assigned staff. Such responsibility includes the development and implementation of professional growth plans to include keeping abreast of current developments, literature, and technical sources of information.Plans workload and supervises staff, and performs other human resources, finance, and payroll related functions for assigned employees.Utilizes tact and exercises good judgment in interacting with the general public, school, and central office personnel.

Desired Qualifications

15 years related accounts payable experience to include lead or supervisory experience.Additional related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the education requirements.Knowledge of accounting, accounts payable, and/or routine auditing practices and procedures.Ability to maintain assigned accounts and to compile, write, and maintain accounting reports.Ability to analyze and resolve accounting problems.Ability to supervise accounting clerical staff.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.Leadership and team management skills.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.Strong customer service background.
