Position SummaryThe Senior Data Scientist in Walmart Retail Intelligence team will be core contributor in AI discovery, research, algorithmic solution design, and rapid prototyping of ML solutions to deliver efficiency and expertise in Machine Learning, generative AI, large language models and deep learning to elevate our AI initiatives for Associate and Customer. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a profound mastery of state-of-the-art GEN AI and LLM technologies, adept at translating innovative concepts into impactful business applications in content creation, moderation and creating conversational-based AI assistants to work on scaling and deployment of cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning models powering for our Retail Intelligence team.About The TeamThe Retail Intelligence team is leading the AI strategy for the company and is specifically charged with intercepting, redesigning, and reframing our end-to-end systems to accelerate customer retention and spend while improving our associates' productivity and turnover. We will reframe business challenges into ML problems, rapidly prototype new algorithms in a toy-scale garage setting, iterate to acceptance with the business, design and execute experiments to test for viability of our models, and work with Tech to productionalize and scale the end-state solution.You will play an important technical role in architecting scalable data science solutions working with business, product, and engineering partners and deliver outstanding business outcomes. You'll spend your days advocating and implementing MLOPs best practices and guiding other DS team members through the processes of optimizing and deploying various ML models and solutions. You will help establish best practices for model deployment, monitoring, and risk assessment, and be instrumental in productionizing and optimizing ML solutions for low latency inference times.What You'll DoDevelop and customize state-of-the-art deep learning based generative models and multimodal models for the creation and moderation of text, images and videos.Utilize advanced large language models to design AI-powered conversational assistants and agents that assist Associates and Customers in campaign management.Collaborate with engineering teams to seamlessly transition AI innovations into scalable and reliable operational solutions.Explore and identify novel applications for generative AI within the Associate and Customer sectors.The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for building scalable end-to-end data science solutions for our data products.Works closely with data engineers, data analysts, data scientists and application developers to help build ML and statistics driven models and continuous model monitoring workflows.Solve business problems by scaling advanced Machine Learning algorithms and complex statistical models on large volumes of data.Own the MLOps lifecycle, from data monitoring to refactoring data science code to building robust ML model lifecycle.Demonstrate strong thought-leadership and consult with product and business stakeholders to build, scale and deploy holistic machine learning solutions after successful prototyping.Guide team members in achieving MLOps driven data science outcomes and handle multiple products and initiatives.Follow industry best practices, stay up to date with and extend the state of the art in machine learning research and practice.Participate in internal technical councils and represent the organization in forums that involve community of Machine Learning Engineers.What You'll BringYou have engineering mindset and exposure to software engineering principles, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, distributed systems and implemented that in Machine Learning projects.You have experience in NLP/NLU, Forecasting and Anomaly detection DS solution development and deployment in real world scenarios.You have strong knowledge of Machine Learning, MLOps, MLflow, Kubeflow/Seldon, Python/R, SQL, Big Data, GCP, Shell scripting.Experience in scaling infrastructure to support high-throughput data-intensive applications using PySpark/GPU.You worked on integrating ML models with webservices.You have experience in designing and developing web services or applications.Knowledge and experience on Kubernetes is a plus.The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed in the role.
