Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.Required Qualifications

Minimum Education

Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.Minimum Work Experience

Three (3) or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services. At least one (1) year previous experience in departmental management.Required Skills

Must have an updated American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. If employee does not have a current ACLS, PALS or NRP at time of hire or transfer, then employee will have six months from day of hire, or transfer, to obtain, or update, ACLS, PALS, or NRP certification. If employee does not have a current BLS at time of hire or transfer, then employee will have one month from day of hire, or transfer, to obtain, or update, BLS certification.Must have a current National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification.Additional Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Required Licenses
