Mission Summary
Motional is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help enhance the capabilities and efficiency of our machine learning platform. The Training Platform team's scope ranges from developing python libraries for performant data access, to owning the code and infrastructure for submitting jobs to our gpu cluster, to accelerating our training jobs. This team's combination of breadth and depth offers many opportunities for impact as you interact with a variety of internal customers and help define our vision for the future.What you'll do:
Communicate with machine learning engineers to identify obstacles and prioritize solutionsConsider cloud costs, scalability, maintainability, and implementation time tradeoffsDesign, prototype, and implement solutions in our ML codebase (Python) and platform codebase (Go)Optimize and debug code to make every step of the model training process run smoothlyWhat we're looking for:
Strong Python coding skills are a mustLinux, shell, and Docker familiarityExperience designing, developing and maintaining production systems in AWSOwnership of projects through requirements gathering, design, and implementation phasesWillingness to learn and contribute wherever impact is needed rather than only in a single areaEducation in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Machine Learning, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experienceBonus points (not required):
Experience in the ML platform spaceExperience with CPU and GPU performance optimizationExperience with Pytorch or other deep learning librariesExperience with Go and KubernetesExperience with distributed systems and database systemsExperience working with large datasets and big data technologiesExperience with backend web developmentWhy you should join us:
