Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSupervise and mentor direct reportsDrive business growth through excellent products and services that our customers loveProvide technical and team leadership in the design, implementation, and testing of cloud native SaaS solutionsWork with HR to recruit, interview, and hire software developersStay current on cloud native technologies and strategies to lead team to provide our users with the best platform experienceProvide aggressive, attainable goals, and time framesUse agile and rapid application development processes to speed engineering effortsWork with Product Managers to identify new features and ensure feature requirements are clearly documentedWork with other development managers to ensure features are consistent across platformsContribute to the overall enterprise architectureMonitor, measure, and improve software development and test processesSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position has direct supervisory responsibility over a team of an Agile team Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers. The teams are sized between 3 and 7 engineers and often include contractors of offshore and/or nearshore.
Minimum Education4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
Experience3+ Years of Experience in direct, full-time leadership of software engineers6+ Years Experience developing cloud native applicationsStrong web development skills and ability to review other’s codeWorking Knowledge of AWSKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAbility to lead software engineering teamsAble to work and communicate well with othersAble to analyze problems and implement/suggest resolutionsAbility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, think creatively, and problem-solve effectively in ambiguous situationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills are requiredAbility to use MS Office tools to write effective design and feature requirement documentsStrong ownership and organizational skillsAbility to provide clear instruction and directionPositive attitude and team playerExperience with GitHub including branching and pull requestsExperience in an Agile development environmentDemonstration of management skills in organizing projects and people to produce high quality resultsStrong understanding of software algorithms, structures, and patternsExperience developing cloud native applicationsMust possess good communication skills and be eager to work in a team environment with other dedicated engineers and managersThis position has access to highly confidential, sensitive information relating to the employees, customers, and technologies of Sorenson Communications.
