As an engineer at Lyft, you'll collaborate with teams like product, data science, analytics, and operations on code that empowers us to iterate quickly while focusing on delighting our passengers and drivers.As a Staff Software Engineer for Rider, you will lead multiple work streams that improve riders' experience with rideshare. In addition, you will focus on incentivizing riders to prefer Lyft, building differentiated features for specific use-cases like travel, commute & social and integrating strategic partners into the Lyft rideshare ecosystem. As an engineer on our team, you'll work hand in hand with various teams across Lyft, fostering collaboration and driving innovation to increase the adoption & usage of Lyft.Responsibilities:
Define technical roadmap for team, identifying areas that need improvement and leading cross-team solutionsProvide technical leadership for an org of 10-20 engineersIdentify, architect, and build the right systems or products to improve the businessWrite well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable codeHave a good grasp and ability to explain the various trade offs made in decisionsParticipate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledgeProactively participate in resolving ongoing incidentsEnable collaboration across multiple teams to deliver on cross-team initiatives, while delegating ownership and uplifting those around themShare your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practicesExperience:
BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience8+ years of software engineering industry experienceProficiency in object-oriented programmingExperience designing, debugging and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systemsExperience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)Proficiency in scripting languages to use APIs to automate manual processesExperience with common CI tools (Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, TeamCity), and proficiency in at least one of those toolsSolid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databasesAbility to communicate in English in writing, meetings and presentationsBenefits:

Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
