Fortitude Re continues to strengthen its ability to pursue further growth and provide innovative solutions for the global insurance industry.Position SummaryThe AVP, Actuarial Applications will proactively engage with our actuarial teams on their critical business priorities, mentor/coach a small team of technologists and design/build solutions for data and applications for use within capital, hedging and actuarial models. This primary IT role is frequently engaged with our Life, Annuity, and Casualty Actuarial business partners to understand their needs and then help lead IT efforts to build technology solutions to address these needs. Reporting to the VP, Actuarial Applications, this role is based in our Brentwood, TN office.What You Will Do:Provide technology thought leadership to Senior Associates and Associates to deliver both strategic and tactical solutions related to actuarial modeling within pricing, valuation, data analytics, and applications developmentBuild strong relationships with key business peers within the Actuarial teamsOptimize data flows into actuarial modeling platforms for Life & Annuities (Moody’s Analytics AXIS, Slope) for Variable Annuities (Atlas), and for Casualty (Milliman Arius)Operate in an agile development environment while applying DevOps principlesLeverage an existing offshore resource support modelUnderstand current state data pipelines/processes; build solutions for future state optimizationIngest and analyze new/existing data sets and implement end-to-end processingAdhere to data governance framework and best practices when designing/building data processing (ETL/ELT) pipelines, data approval workflows, data controlsEngage with data providers to coordinate secure data transfersProvide long term technology solutions to financial modeling using modern data engineering, data visualization, data science, and machine learningEvaluate actuarial SaaS solutions from a technology lens in partnership with the Actuarial teamWhat You Will Have:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or similar fieldMinimum experience of seven years in a growing IT role, with at least five years in programming (Python, Julia and/or R) and SQLExperience with actuarial modeling systems (Moody’s Analytics AXIS, Slope, etc.)Domain knowledge in Life, Annuity, and/or Casualty insuranceExperience building and managing code bases using GitHubExperience in building cloud-based data solutions in AWS with expertise building infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similarExperience in building dashboards/reporting solutions in PowerBIRobust knowledge of data lakes, data governance and modern data quality techniquesPrior knowledge and experience in the fintech, investment banking or insurance industryExcellent analytical, problem solving and conceptual skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsWhat We Offer:Unlimited PTO policyUp to 12 paid company holidaysUp to 16 hours per year of paid volunteer timeCompetitive 401(k) plan - US Employees OnlyPaid parental leaveLearning and Development StipendMental Health and Wellbeing supportHealth, vision, dental, and life insurance with additional access to health and wellness programsFlexible working environmentActuarial Exam Support through our Actuarial Development Program (ADP) for Actuarial employeesActuarial Program Rotation for ADP employeesAt Fortitude Re, we believe that diversity and inclusion are critical to our future and our mission - creating a foundation for a creative workplace that leads to innovation, growth, and profitability.
