Primary functions include daily cash and position reconciliations, cash flow processing and forecasting, daily NAV oversight for the Oakmark Funds and recording of daily account activity. The team will be outsourcing some of these high-volume functions to a third party in the future. As this happens, the team's focus will shift to oversight and control of these functions.This position requires daily interaction with a variety of internal teams including Portfolio Implementation, Performance Analytics, Account Services, Client Services, and other operations teams. Communications will also include external parties such as custodians, vendors, consultants, and clients.The Senior Associate must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task. They must also be able to think critically and possess a strong attention to detail. This individual is expected to manage a daily workload of responsibilities, independently solve complex problems, and serve as an escalation point for junior team members. Senior Associates should be prepared to recommend and implement business process improvements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProcess cash flows, income, expenses, and maturities and provide portfolio management teams with accurate and timely cash forecasts.Provide NAV oversight for The Oakmark Funds. This includes interpreting and resolving accounting discrepancies for valuation purposes.Reconcile cash and positions across all accounts on a daily basis.Coordinate tax lot accounting treatment across internal systems and with external custodians.Once trained, serve as an escalation point to teammates and other departments to resolve complex accounting and portfolio inquiries.Assist with certain account onboarding and offboarding responsibilities.Identify and implement business process improvements to continually improve efficiency and functionalization.Required Position Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)4-7 years of prior investment accounting or portfolio administration experience, preferably for a buy-side asset management firm.Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field, or prior related work experience.Working knowledge of the mutual fund industry and related accounting principles.Must be adaptable, learn quickly, have analytical ability and strong problem-solving skills.Must have excellent attention to detail, an exceptionally high degree of initiative and adaptability, and the ability to multi-task.Must have a high degree of integrity and accountability.PreferredStrong knowledge of a variety of investment vehicles including mutual funds, limited partnerships, and collective investment trusts.Strong knowledge of a variety of security types including equity, FX forwards, fixed income, bank loans and option investments.Prior leadership experience in the context of projects, oversight of department functions or direct reports.Prior experience utilizing an accounting platform.Prior experience with CRMs such as Salesforce and/or trading platforms such as Charles River.Special Requirements:This position may be required to occasionally work early morning hours and/or evening hours in order to ensure department coverage.
