Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.We are looking for a highly analytical, self-motivated and solution-oriented Data Scientist to join our Tempus External Research team.In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with business development, translational science, data operations, and data science teams to explore Tempus’s Data, create cohorts for biomarker development projects, and scale our analytical workflows to help deliver data more effectively to our academic research partners. As such, the candidate will get a chance to work with one of the largest molecular and clinical databases of cancer patients in the world, learn about genomic data science, and standardize our documentation/communication tools.What You’ll Do

Become an expert in Tempus multimodal clinical and genomic dataLeverage Tempus's multi-modal data to identify patient cohorts for academic research partners who are building new machine learning-enabled biomarkers.Drive customer-focused improvements to the Tempus data model by collaborating with Tempus’ Data Science, Model Query, and Engineering teamsPartner with the RWD Engineering team to design and implement OCR/NLP models for prospective cohort generationCollaborate with Research, Engineering & Data Science teams to develop and deliver innovative database solutionsDocument, summarize, and communicate data models, highly technical results, and methods to external technical and non-technical audiences.Base Qualifications

Master's Degree or equivalent experience in data science, computer science, healthcare informatics, statistics, or another related STEM field2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably involving work with Life Science or Healthcare data in an analytical or consulting role within or in support of the Life Sciences or Healthcare industryStrong command of SQL and/or other scripting languages to retrieve data from various bioinformatics databasesStrong proficiency in R or Python and/or other programming languagesExcellent project management skills, with proven ability to execute complex projects with multiple cross-functional stakeholdersExperience with engineering practices for research computing (Docker, Git, and Github, code review, Linux, cloud computing)Thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Nice-to-have

Experience in real-world data and/or next-generation sequencingGenomic data background and experienceExperience with AWS and/or Bigquery and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)We are an equal opportunity employer.
