This position is responsible for providing tax research and planning analysis/support to the Tax Director and Manager of Tax Planning. It involves coordinating and providing technical and substantive tax law support with an emphasis on state premium taxation, state sales and use taxes, and fixed assets. The position will also be responsible for HCSC’s Vertex Sales and Use Tax compliance software administration. This position will support compliance/audit processes to comply with applicable tax laws and represent HCSC tax positions. Additionally, this position will provide tax consulting, recommendations, and exposure analysis to management on a diverse array of tax issues arising within HCSC departments and subsidiaries; examining current tax law trends and developments in the insurance industry for tax planning initiatives and opportunities to permanently reduce and/or defer HCSC tax liability.Job Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.2 years experience preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns.Knowledge of and skills in tax research methodologies, resources, and web-based tax research search engines.Knowledge of preparing and processing journal entries and account reconciliations.Review newly acquired assets according to government guidelines and corporate policy.Maintain Oracle Fixed Assets database to reflect transfers of assets to new cost centers, business units, or categories, adjust asset values, or process approved disposal requests; create required journal entries; review automatic calculations of gain or loss.Knowledge and skills to conduct face-to-face communications with IRS and state auditors in a mature and professional manner.Experience and skills in interpreting information from various sources.PC experience and skills to include Adobe, Excel, and Word.Experience and skill in presenting business cases to and influencing high-level third-party stakeholders.Preferred Skills
