AUSTIN, TXJob Details:General NotesThe Office of Finance at the Dell Medical School is looking for an Associate Director of Research Finance.PurposeResponsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining the finance health and budgets in the research pillar of the organization. This position is highly matrixed between the Office of Research leadership, the departments and their Chairs, and peer finance leaders.ResponsibilitiesServe as key leader and liaison for the Sr Director of Finance and the CFO in working with the Office of Research to create and execute a financially viable plan for growth in the research pillar.Assist department leaders in creating and monitoring the research annual budgets in accordance with organization standards.Develop analytics and standardized monthly financial review processes between departments and finance to assess performance to budget in volumes, revenues and all expense categories.Other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and 7-8 years of relevant experience or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. MBA, MAcc) and at least five years of experience in leadership positions in academic healthcare, hospital and/or multidisciplinary clinic setting. Experience financially managing a broad healthcare academic portfolio. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytic, project management and presentation skills. Ability to manage complicated and complex organizations, including academic medical or health care entities. Experience managing various sources of funding streams. Experience with process management systems and software. High level communication skills. Experience working closely with diverse stakeholders, internal and external partners. Ability to exercise resourcefulness and good judgment in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple streams of work. Detail oriented. Excellent analytical skills, problem solving ability and strong critical thinking skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The successful candidate should have excellent communications skills, leadership abilities, and possess the highest ethical standards. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsExperience in academic healthcare, hospital, and/or higher education setting.
