Minimum Requirements

6+ years of design experience in commercial / industrial / other complex technical projects7+ years of Mission Critical facility design experience3+ years of large-scale Data Center facility design experience10+ years of experience directly related to data center design, construction, operations, and/or facility maintenanceProficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalentExcellent communication skills and attention to detailSolid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office SuiteDirect experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltageDirect experience with delivering modular data centers design projects, including procurement and commissioning of facilitiesFunctional knowledge of industry standards, environmental codes, building codes and safety standards including International Building CodeAbility to communicate complex technical issues to senior leadership or non-engineers, develop basic business case financial projections and create performance metricsDirect experience in negotiating with regulatory agencies regarding departures from building code and construction change ordersWorking Knowledge of Sharepoint, BIM/Revit, Salesforce and ProcoreResponsibilities

This unique vantage point allows the Design Managers to maintain a close connection with project details and drive project outcomesYou will have impact on the design direction and ability to improve design delivery for an entire region, while establishing design procedures and protocols for the development of future systemsLead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent data center designs across Americas within schedule and cost constraints while maintaining a high level of qualityAble to influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and external consultants to address program wide design changesManage escalations from the design team and collaborate with procurement, construction and external consultantsEffectively communicate with AWS Leadership and external project partners, including the creation, tracking & reporting of metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality throughout the lifecycle of the projectThink outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce contract change orders without negative impacts on quality or reliabilityDrive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through standardization and automationCreate global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globeAbility to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environmentTravel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultantsAnticipated travel not to exceed 25%
