POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant will provide financial and analytical support by ensuring the receipt of payments and the proper recording and posting in an efficient, timely and accurate manner. The role requires adherence to related internal controls and processes and procedures. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Post customer payments by recording checks and electronic payments into the general ledger system.Reconcile the cash receipts journals, accounts receivable ledgers, and related sub-ledgers for all bank accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.Verify account discrepancies by investigating with internal staff as well as clients.Monitor bank accounts on a daily basis and perform daily bank reconciliations for multiple accounts across different banks.Update investment workpapers weekly and post related general journal entries in the general ledger system.Summarize related cash and receivable reports on a daily and weekly basis.Initiate bank transfers, ACHs and wire transfers from different banks and post related general journal entries in the general ledger system.Analyze bank fees monthly.Reconcile various wash accounts monthly.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Proficient with MS Office and MS Outlook; proven Excel skills.Construction experience highly desired, but not required.Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Ability to think analytically and manage multiple priorities.Demonstrated effective time management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.BA in Accounting, Finance or equivalent construction experience.1 - 2 years of accounting experience.Power Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
