What you'll do:
As a Vice President, Portfolio Management Team Leader you'll be in a leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Portfolio Risk Management program for the bank.
Your team is responsible for tasks related to the portfolio health management, regularly providing insights to leaders about the portfolio's performance and trends. Western Alliance uses a team-based approached to portfolio management, so your team will work with relationship managers, underwriters, portfolio managers, credit analysts and partners from credit administration, loan administration, and credit risk review.

Your team is responsible for tasks related to the portfolio health management, regularly providing insights to leaders about the portfolio's performance and trends. What we are looking for:
- In conjunction with key stakeholders, develop strategy and policies for the efficient management of select credit relationships.
- Reviews the work from Portfolio Managers, underwriters, and credit analysts, including loan presentations, rating reviews, credit applications, financial analysis, extension of credit limits, action plans, provisional risk scoring and usual portfolio management requirements.
- Oversees the identification of risks issues, close monitoring of and reporting on the status of the borrower and underlying project conditions, including escalating to appropriate departments where appropriate.
- Supervises a variety of general portfolio management activities, including credit concentration reviews and portfolio optimization, critical analysis of trends and factors impacting various client projects. Prepares reports for management based on team's analysis related to under-performing assets and recommends mitigation strategies.
- Coordinates work distribution and service level performance. Oversees the processing of approved loans; controls the process to validate that loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies. Contributes to projects related to maintaining and improving internal credit and loan administration policies and procedures.
- Leads and develops a team; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training and development.
- Compiles and analyzes market research data to develop recommendations regarding products and services focused on needs of target market.
- Encourages team to uncovering relationship deepening opportunities that are referred to the respective business lines.
- Team will log client communication in CRM.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and ten (10) or more years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and education related to the finance industry.
- Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial credit and loan structuring, pricing dynamics and has market specific awareness.
- Strong speaking and writing skills for internal and external audiences.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
