Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins’focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as anational and global leader in higher education. We create andfoster enduring relationships that result in advocacy andphilanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University &Medicine—strengthening the institution through partnerships withdonors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, andpatients.

Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model whichincludes four different work modalities. This role has a hybridwork arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. Themanager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where themajority/all team members will work in the office. Employees whotravel on university business can count those days towards theironsite days.

The Office of External Affairs is an integral part of the Dean’sOffice. The team is comprised of an associate dean, to which thisposition reports, as well as a development coordinator, three majorgift officers, one grants and stewardship officer, twocommunications officers, and one graphic designer.

The Sheridan Libraries and University Museums at Johns HopkinsUniversity is seeking a Development Communications Coordinator tojoin the Office of External Affairs. The Development CommunicationsCoordinator will be responsible for supporting email, digital, andprint communications projects for the development andcommunications teams by writing compelling marketing, editorial,and fundraising content to raise awareness and support ofdivisional services, events, and strategic priorities amonginternal and external stakeholders. The Development CommunicationsCoordinator will also provide administrative support and projectmanagement for development priorities, including the annual fund,donor proposals, stewardship, and events. Requires a highlyresponsible individual with excellent writing, editing, andproofreading skills who can work independently and professionallywith minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities:Writing and Editing

Research, write, and deploy compelling content andcorrespondence for campus stakeholders, alumni, donors, andexternal audiences through digital and print communicationchannels, including: invitations, programs, and other event-relatedmaterials; advisory board communications and website;acknowledgement letters and stewardship reports; event scripts;campaign case statements; electronic newsletters; and socialmedia.

Procure and research images.

Gain knowledge of divisional departments, institutes, andcenters.

Exchange non-routine, and at times confidential, informationwith a high level of professionalism and tact.

Support and monitor timely completion of communicationsprojects in accordance with established deadlines.

Ensure all communication projects and marketing efforts complywith University Branding Guidelines and JHU Use of NameGuidelines.

Administrative Duties

Provide communications support for meetings and donor andprospect visits.

Create mailing lists for invitations, newsletters, and othercorrespondence.

Manage mailings and RSVP lists.

Generate and maintain the office events calendar andtimelines.

Assist with preparing donor communications.

Provide backup support and coverage for the Sr. DevelopmentCoordinator and the Administrative Coordinator in the Dean’sOffice.

Special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or graduation equivalentrequired.

Three years of related experience required.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Strong administrative, organizational, and project managementskills.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverseconstituencies, meet deadlines, be self-motivated, and workindependently.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Excellent writing, editing, grammar, and proofreadingskills.

Understanding of and familiarity with social media platformsincluding, but not limited to: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook,YouTube, X, and Flickr.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word,PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Experience with project management and communication tools suchas Slack, JIRA, and Confluence.

Experience with design and publishing tools such as AdobeCreative Suite, Marq, and Canva.

Experience with digital marketing platforms such as ConstantContact and Marketing Cloud.

Experience with Sales Force database.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to meet tight deadlines and adjust to changingpriorities.
