About the Department:
The Office of University Branding (OUB) at George Mason University is responsible for telling the Mason story. Relying on a team of highly skilled communicators and marketing professionals, the department builds awareness and support for the university, develops and protects the brand, and shares important and timely information with the Mason community and its external partners.
Responsibilities:
The Event Operations Assistant will report directly to the Director of Event Production. This individual will be a team member charged with supporting events and meetings with audiences that include the University's senior management. The duties include, but are not limited to, set-up and strike of event furnishings, basic audio-visual support, on-site event support, and execution of events while ensuring all logistical requirements are carried out according to event plans.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to effectively communicate with clients on site and have a good understanding of functionality of event venues;Exhibits strong attention to detail and organizational skills;Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience;Demonstrates excellence in customer service;Ability to lift objects that are 50lbs and can move event furnishings;Ability to work 15-20 hours per week including evenings and weekends if needed;Must be a Mason student with a full-time class schedule;Must be in good standing (driver's license and insurable) to operate state or personal vehicle(s), and must have reliable personal transportation;Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/ .The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:
Availability to work early mornings from 7:00am to 10:00am;Pursuing a degree in the field of Event Management, Marketing, or other relevant fields; andExperience with a scheduling database, event registration, and other University technological tools.Instructions to Applicants:
