Family Law Attorney/Director (must have Family Law Exp)Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited university and an active member of the State Bar of Georgia in good standing; combined five (5) to seven (7) years experience in family law litigation and supervision/management, preferably in the nonprofit sectorExperience working with and advocating for survivors of intimate partner abuseExperience working with clients of diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgroundsExperience supervising attorneys, law students, and other staffExcellent communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people to understand, convey, and support the clients’ and volunteers’ needsMust be respectful and responsive to cultural beliefs and practices within a client’s communityStrong collaborative skillsAbility to derive creative solutionsAttention to detail and a commitment to executing with excellenceMust be organized and able to prioritize clients’ needs effectivelyDemonstrated excellence in legal research and writingProficient with MS Office SuiteResponsibilities

The focus is on meeting survivors where they are to ensure access to protection and other services during a time of crisisSuccess in this role will be effectively leading a diverse team of professionals to fully engage people seeking help, volunteers, co-workers, partners, policy makers and other stakeholdersSupervising and managing the work of 12+ employees, with 4 direct reports, including quality control, teaching, providing feedback, receiving feedback, delegating, and providing supportEngaging in high-level communication with community partnersBuilding relationships with firms and volunteers and being visible in the community by serving on boards and as a member of organizations or coalitions relevant to the work of the teamFacilitating the execution of AVLF’s and SSF’s strategic plans and the growth of SSF programmingServe as member of AVLF executive leadership team, participating in directors’ meetings, providing input, and helping make leadership-level decisions for the organization, and communicate with other organizational leaders regarding SSF needs and rolesRepresent clients before judicial proceedings when appropriate and necessaryEnsure client data and information is maintained and appropriately and accurately stored and tracked in AVLF’s client databaseCoordinate team’s involvement in grant applications, reporting, and complianceInitiate/oversee HR-level issues with HR DeptManage official partnerships with SSF (e.g., MOUs, joint events, etc.)Approve requests for financial assistance and invoice paymentsEnsure team stays up to date on legal and professional aspects related to work, including attending seminars, training, and general professional developmentCompensation and Benefits

Compensation – $90K to $100KAVLF Benefits Package – As a non-profit organization, AVLF understands that we may not compete with the salary scales of many private sector jobs.
