Join us and make impact happen with a career at ByteDance.Our Database Development Team is responsible for building and owning database products used by ByteDance's infrastructure, including but not limited to relational databases, key-value stores, and document stores. We embrace a culture of self-direction, intellectual curiosity, openness, and problem-solving. We are looking for seasoned developers to help us build a serverless database service for our customers in the following areas:Cloud-native application development, e.g. Kubernetes operator/controller developmentCluster and system management including database scale out, high availability, backup/restore, database monitoring, observability and serviceability frameworks and tools including telemetry collection, performance and crash diagnostics, etc.Responsibilities:Partner with PMs and engineers from different teams on building backend support for cloud database service productsDesign and implement distributed database system and/or data processing platformConduct comprehensive unit, functional and system-test for large distributed system to ensure product quality and system stabilityParticipate in release and deployment processDebug, conduct root cause analysis, and diagnose defectsSolve unique, large-scale, highly complex cloud infrastructure problemsParticipate in the team’s on-call rotation to keep services operational and highly availableQualifications:BS or a higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields7+ years industry experience in distributed system programmingExperience in large scale cluster management systems, e.g, Kubernetes, Yarn, or MesosExperience in container runtime and relevant projects, e.g., containerd, Kata-Container, gVisor, firecracker etc.Experience in Prometheus and InfluxDB. Experience in Kubernetes Scheduling Framework developmentExpertise in software engineering life cycle from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publicationsCuriosity about new technologies, innovation and entrepreneurshipStrong Go, Java or C++ programming skillsPreferred Qualifications:MySQL/PostgreSQL software development experience is a plusExperience building a large-scale high performance database platformDistributed systems experienceKnowledge and experience with Linux shell and other scripting languages such as Python, etc.ByteDance is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
