Amazon Pinpoint is recruiting a Software Development Engineer who will be responsible for being the technical leader responsible for helping drive messaging products including email and text messages. You will work with customers and other technology leaders at Amazon to help translate strategic business needs into features and projects, and then work with your team to deliver those features and projects more quickly than many would think possible.
As the Software Development Engineer, you will work as a technology leader and demonstrate exemplary practice in design and implementation of new scalable services. You will lead technology areas that drive solutions for a super solid, scalable, efficient, and extremely fault-tolerant service. You will help influence overall strategy by helping define the product features, driving system architecture, and spearheading the best practices that enable a quality product. The ideal candidate will be passionate about solving some of the hardest engineering challenges in distributed systems at massive scale on an ongoing basis and have a demonstrable track record for delivering successful products.

Responsibilities
This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of service engineering, as well as demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, and conducting software development projects in a dynamic environment. As the Software Development Engineer, you will engage in the following key responsibilities:
Develop and deploy cloud software framework for Amazon Pinpoint channelsProvide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, testing, documentation, and support of (mainly Java-based) softwareCreate new features and performance improvementsPrepare technical requirements and software design specificationsInstill best practices for software development and documentation, ensuring designs meet requirements, and delivering high-quality software on a tight schedule
Basic Qualifications3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
