As part of the Office of General Counsel, this attorney will be the primary legal advisor to Volkswagen ADMT, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., focusing on autonomous driving, MaaS, TaaS, and technology/software contracts. This attorney will also provide legal support to other VWGoA business units, particularly the Innovation Center, Engineering Centers and other R&D locations. The attorney will assist in day-to-day matters, triage matters of legal importance, and supervise and manage the work of outside counsel when applicable and appropriate.Role Responsibilities

Contract Matters (60%)

Support all business units by providing timely, ongoing, on-demand legal counsel and strategic guidance on contractual and transactional issues.Review, draft and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, technology licenses, IT services agreements, software agreements and documentation related to purchase orders.Create template documents and recommend improvements to Company’s standard terms and conditions.Proactively identify risks and opportunities for risk mitigation for the business by developing and cultivating relationships with the business and maintain a pipeline of knowledge regarding business initiatives.Regulatory Matters (20%)

Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations regarding autonomous driving, MaaS, and TaaS issues.Liaise with other Legal Department colleagues, especially with the Product Regulatory legal team and the Data Privacy legal team to review and advise on regulatory issues regarding autonomous driving, MaaS, and TaaS.Litigation Management and Other Matters (20%)

Act as primary Legal Department contact for ADMT.Advise clients on contract disputes and achieve effective resolutions.Liaise with E-discovery team as necessary in connection with ADMT litigation matters.Provide support to Secretary and Assistant Secretary on ADMT corporate matters.Retain quality outside counsel for matters when appropriate, and effectively manage those matters, including closely supervising outside counsel, by focusing on the timely, successful, and efficient representation of the Company with its short and long-term business interests in mind.Qualifications

Years of Experience:

5 - 7 years law firm or in-house experience.Education - Required

Bachelors and Law Degrees from well-recognized nationally accredited academic institutions.Skills

Membership or eligibility for admission to the State Bar of California.Understanding of and experience in contract and corporate law.Significant experience negotiating, drafting and reviewing technology, software-as-a-service and IT licensing contracts, as well as research agreements.Experience drafting and interpreting corporate governance documents.Experience interpreting regulations and providing advice to clients with respect to regulatory environment.Expertise in managing matters and providing positive results within budgeted parameters.Expertise in counseling business clients on strategic and day-to-day matters.Specialized Skills - Desired

Automotive Industry Experience.Subject matter expertise and familiarity with legal issues relating to Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS), and autonomous driving.Familiarity with consumer and data privacy laws and regulations.A strong business orientation or experience, and the ability to empathize with business clients.A passion for excellence in work product, and outstanding results for the business clients.German language skills.Work Flexibility

Domestic Travel – Approximately 15%.Full time work schedule.Compensation

In Belmont, CA, the salary range for this role is $159,600 - $271,600 depending on education and experience.Volkswagen Group of America is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
