Udemy is looking for a data scientist to join a team largely focused on exploring and building novel applications of generative AI to improve the teaching and learning experience. In this role, you will build products that leverage deep learning and large language models (e.g., GPT). You will work as part of a cross-functional agile team that includes data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, designers, and product managers.What you'll be doing:Develop machine learning models at scale from inception to business impactWith minimal input from Senior Staff DS, adapt standard machine learning methods to solve business problemsIndependently design and analyze randomized controlled experimentsAs needed, independently develop robust feature and inference pipelines, and write production codePartner with ML Engineers to troubleshoot and optimize complex machine learning and deep learning applicationsDesign and partner with ML Engineers to build systems and services to understand deep learning application performance and perform root cause analysisWhat you’ll have:Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience2+ years of hands-on Data Science or ML Engineering experience OR a PhD1+ years of hands-on experience in one of the following technical domains: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, artificial intelligence, or a related technical fieldProficiency with 1+ programming language(s) (e.g. Python)Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWe understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications.
