We’ve got what you’re looking for.Job Description:Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join our team! Our team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation, delivering a cleaner, safer planet for our customers and future generations. In this role you will get to perform a variety of geological and environmental tasks. Willingness to perform field work and to travel to field sites (up to 50% of the time) is a key element of this role. Over time, the position will shift to more office-based work and less field work as your career is propelled forward.What You'll Be Doing:Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theoriesConduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental samplingSoil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activitiesAssist with supervision of drillers and other subcontractorsExecute field projects with health and safety as the top priorityComplete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody formsAssist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistryAnalyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological settingPrepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sectionsDevelop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field workMay provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientistsWork with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budgetPerform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriateWhat Required Skills You'll Bring:Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 3+ years of related work experienceWhat Desired Skills You'll Bring:A familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferredAbility to work in a hybrid work arrangementA valid driver’s license, the ability and willingness to travel to and from field locations up to 50% of the timeShould be able-bodied as the work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activitiesWork in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow)Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skillsMaturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a teamMinimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/None.
