Maxar is currently seeking a Principal Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA preferably, or Westminster, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical and business professionals to deliver the many elements that comprise a comprehensive mission strategy, test execution and delivery, and desired integration outcomes. You will lead the design, build, validation, and delivery of products that meet customer requirements and support broader product and mission strategies. You will work with executives and senior leadership, functional managers, spacecraft subsystems engineers, embedded and ground software engineers, system engineers, subject matter experts, program and project managers, ground operations engineers, and both internal and external customers. This is both a challenging and rewarding position.Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineer is responsible for developing and leading the development of integrated mission solutions spanning space, ground and operations segments, and driving improvements in related product areas within the company as an outcome of your work.Leads and facilitates cost-effective methods of the design, development, testing and troubleshooting space systems and equipment for all phases of product development, manufacturing, integration, testing, and launch site processing.Oversees design, development (software and hardware), test, integration team activities.Gains understanding of mission level scenarios to determine the most appropriate testing methodology to meet those mission scenarios.Closely partner with test engineering to ensure that mission capabilities are appropriately tested.Leads and coaches matrixed, cross functional teams of subject matter experts, engineers, and emerging leaders.Create and drive a culture of ownership, accountability, & crisp execution to goals.Guide the existing and any new processes necessary to hit business objectives while streamlining and/or eliminating non-critical work.Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to successfully bring together diverse teams made up of multiple engineering and business disciplines.Engage actively in all program risk management activities.Be able to travel as necessary to ensure team cohesion & program success.Generate technical and business artifacts and documents as required.Your Career:

Must be a U.S. citizen.Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics, or equivalent degree or experience.At least 7 years of experience in the following general disciplines:Requirements development for Low Earth Orbit Satellites including Conops development.System budgeting and performance analysis.Demonstrated deep expertise in at least one satellite subsystem:Attitude Determination and ControlFlight softwareCommand & data handlingElectrical circuit design and analysisThermal design and analysisKnowledge of Bus and Instrument Integration and TestApplicants must have broad leadership and deep engineering, manufacturing, software, and testing background experience.Applicant must have familiarity with aerospace industry best practices, with the demonstrated ability to select and apply commercial or government standards as needed or directed.Ability to multitask and support multiple projects.Ability to manage functional and system requirements and interfaces.Experience working in a matrixed environment.Graduate Studies May Substitute For Required Work Experience.Preferred Qualifications:

Requirements development for Low Earth Orbit Satellites including Conops development.Low Earth Orbit Imaging Satellite operations experience including tasking, troubleshooting, and anomaly resolution.Government security clearance at the Top Secret or higher level; or the ability to get such a clearance.Experience with software development, operations, and/or verification & validation.3+ years’ experience as a people manager, directly or indirectly.Experience leading integrated and cross-functional technology and business teams.Familiarity with embedded and ground software capabilities and interfaces.Experience with all phases of spacecraft integration and test related activities ranging from proposal development through on orbit commissioning operations.Ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve issues independently.Ability to partner effectively with both highly technical and non-technical team members and integrate that expertise into executable plans.Creative problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills.Ability to facilitate swift, informed decision making at all levels of the business and technical teams.Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.Location:

Palo Alto, CA or Westminster, CO; remote permitted with expectation that candidate will travel as the role and business needs require.What we look for in a Leader:
