Responsibilities

Oaktree is seeking an associate to work within the Real Estate Group for a 2-year program. Oaktree's Real Estate group pursues a wide range of global investment opportunities, including direct property investments; investments in real estate-related corporations; CMBS and related securities; residential land, assets and loan pools; small-balance commercial loan pools; and non-U.S. investments. The group will also occasionally pursue development opportunities with aligned, high-quality partners. Our opportunistic approach and our team’s extensive expertise at the intersection of real estate and distressed debt allows us to capitalize on continued flow of over-leveraged and distressed real estate in need of rescue capital or asset repositioning.

The Associate will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities:

Preparing detailed financial modeling;

Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis;

Developing and maintaining business and industry due diligence;

Participating in deal structuring, legal documentation and negotiations;

Monitoring the performance of existing portfolio investments.

Qualifications

1-3 years of experience as an analyst at an investment banking program or real estate private equity firm with strong preference for someone with at least 1 year of real estate investing experience.

Must be able to talk through a Real Estate income statement.

Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.

Exposure to the residential markets a plus, but not required.

Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance.

Must have outstanding initiative and be a self-starter.

Demonstrate non-linear thinking and have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks.

Collaborative, team-oriented individual with strong sense of integrity and professionalism.

Education

Bachelor’s degree with honors from a top university or college is required.
