Location: Jessup, MarylandSalary Range: [Insert Salary Range]POSITION SUMMARY:The Lead AOD Counselor directs and manages an effective clinical service delivery team using client psychosocial assessment, group and individual therapy, and person-centered treatment planning. The Lead AOD Counselor is responsible for working collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate the transition of care upon the client’s completion of the program. This position is responsible for the oversight of the AOD Counselors and will provide the required supervision for the counseling staff. The Lead AOD Counselor is responsible for the completion of chart reviews and providing the reports to the Clinical Program Director, while maintaining a small caseload within the Therapeutic Community.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Daily supervision of AOD counselors assigned to the program.Developing staff schedule to be approved by the Clinical Director.Monitor adherence to program policies and procedures.Conduct monthly quality assurance reviews of treatment case files of assessment counselors.Administer, score, and interpret required screening and assessment tools.Conduct screenings and assessments during the intake process.Prepare written reports based on assessment results.Conduct supervision with staff and maintain records for the Clinical Director.Identify appropriate resources and connect clients to assistance.Participate in staffing regarding participants with team members.Embrace and embody the mission and vision of WestCare Foundation.Perform all other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to understand various models including cognitive behavioral therapy and theories of addiction.Knowledge of offender populations and substance abuse assessment tools.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High level of initiative and ability to work independently.Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) preferred.Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain clearance from Maryland Department of Corrections.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Experience of five (5) years providing direct substance abuse counseling services to the criminal justice population preferred. Must possess at least a Master’s degree in Human Services or Substance Abuse.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:CAC AD, LCPC; must meet Approved Supervisory Status from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is primarily performed in a correctional institution setting. Must be able to de-escalate situations in the program.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:Requires mobility and physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting. Requires the ability to communicate effectively, analyze complex data, and work under stress.
