This is a 12 Month Contract Role

What can you expect in this role?
  • Work with the VP, Litigation to lead and oversee a team of litigation lawyers handling Accident Benefits Litigation
  • Contribute to leadership of Definity's Claims Litigation Unit
  • Opportunity to provide advice to the Claims department on Accident Benefits litigation handling generally
  • Limited caseload of high complexity litigation files

What do you bring to the role?
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with at least 3 years coaching or mentoring other lawyers
  • At least 6-10 years of litigation experience, with significant Accident Benefits litigation experience
  • Strong commitment to coaching and mentoring developing lawyers
  • Passion for finding better ways
  • Empathy and ability to motivate
  • High degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility
  • Team player, adaptable to a changing environment
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school (LLB or Juris Doctor)
  • Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario to practice law as a lawyer in Ontario
  • This role requires clearance of a background check and disciplinary action check

Salary Range: $111,300 - $205,500

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
