The Associate Dean, Administration and Finance, reports directly to the Dean and serves as the chief administrative and financial officer for the UCSF School of Nursing. Serving as control point administrator for the school, the incumbent is responsible for business and financial planning, oversight of all School of Nursing funds including research funds and clinical revenue, as well as establishing financial and administrative policies and structures for the school. Included in this responsibility is administrative oversight of the school's business contracts and MOUs with internal and external organizations.The Associate Dean serves as an advisor to the Dean and school leadership, providing interpretation of policies, procedures, and regulations in a wide variety of fiscal, regulatory, and administrative matters. The incumbent is expected to develop, recommend, and implement policy, structure, workflow, and process changes to ensure the efficient, effective, and compliant administration of the school. The Associate Dean leads and evaluates the financial, security, information technology, space, and facilities functions for the School of Nursing, and has considerable authority and responsibility in these matters.The Associate Dean coordinates with University control points and other Associate Deans on issues pertaining to campus-wide financial planning, transactions, and budget issues as appropriate. As such, the Associate Dean represents the school on a variety of campus and system-wide committees focused on business planning, financial management, compliance, regulatory matters, as well as information technology investment and implementation, ensuring that the school is a responsive and proactive campus leader.It is the responsibility of the Associate Dean to build credible and trusting relationships with all internal personnel and external constituents and affiliated institutions, and manage conflicts among the faculty, the campus, and external entities. As the School's chief administration officer, the Associate Dean must effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students, representing the School's interests before campus, system-wide, governmental, professional, and private bodies.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.The salary range for this position is $238,500 - $335,800 (Annual Rate).Department Description

As a vital part of the world-renowned health sciences campus, the UCSF School of Nursing fosters excellence, diversity, and innovation. The school is a leader in NIH research funding awarded to schools of nursing, and its academic programs are ranked among the top in the nation. The School of Nursing Dean's Office provides leadership and support to four academic departments and an organized research unit, in addition to providing a variety of services to support students and faculty.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Ten years of progressively responsible management experience including financial and budget preparation experience.Ten years of management/supervisory/lead experience.Excellent leadership abilities to oversee multiple functions or departments through subordinate managers.Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.Skills in establishing and implementing customer service standards. Excellent ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals which measure effectiveness of contributions to efficient operations of department.Strong knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Advanced project management skills, including the capability to manage capital projects. Advanced knowledge of administrative management theory and ability to translate this knowledge into practice.Advanced skills in strategy development, systems planning, and change management.Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including demonstrated ability to bring people together to develop creative solutions and gain alignment. Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the University and with a wide variety of personalities.Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.Understanding of nursing education, research, and/or clinical practice.Ten years of supervisory experience in an academic, medical center, or research environment.About UCSF
