Since 1954, we have delivered comprehensive engineering and environmental solutions for the most challenging infrastructure planning, design, permitting and construction conditions.We are dedicated to improving our communities, preserving the environment and utilizing the most innovative science practices in all our work.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with scientists, engineers, and other technical experts to communicate complex ideas in a way that a technical and non-technical audience can understand.Review technical reports and proposals and recommend revisions or changes in approaches, scope, format, and risk management.Design, plan, and perform field exploration, testing, and instrumentation programs.Complete Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.Review, evaluate, and interpret environmental or other technical data and prepare summary reports.Complete basic testing and deliver samples to outside labs.Participate in the development of scopes of service and prepare budgets and proposals.Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels in a professional manner.Support business development and marketing activities, including preparation of cost proposals and presentations to existing and prospective clients.Follow Shannon & Wilson's Quality Assurance policy.Follow and promote Shannon & Wilson's Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.Maintain corporate standards for report preparation and style.Manage multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines and adjust priorities based on management direction and program deadlines.Travel and year-round field work, particularly in the months of April through October, with working hours more than 40 hours per week and weekends, as needed (compensation provided for the additional time).Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Natural Science or other Physical Science Degree; Master's Degree preferred.0-6 years of experienceExperience with mathematical terms and equations.Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.Desirable Qualifications40-hour HAZWOPER trainingKnowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, OSHA and other federal regulations.Experience sampling soil, groundwater, and other media at contaminated sites.Experience in hazardous waste and hazardous materials management.Experience with environmental remediation technologies.Experience on federal projects (HTRW, AFCEE, etc.).Experience with statistical analyses.Experience with fate and transport modeling.Other desirable skills and training, based on previous experience.Advanced computer skills: gINT, Access, ArcGIS, AutoCAD.BenefitsEmployee ownershipComprehensive medical, prescription, vision, and dental coverage.Pre-tax health and daycare FSALife and disability insuranceLong-term care insuranceProfit sharing and 401(k) plansPaid time off for vacation and sick leave10 paid holidaysPaid volunteer dayFree parkingLevel PlacementTypically, depending on an applicant's education, experience, and other qualifications, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Professional I, II, III, or IV level.Shannon & Wilson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Shannon & Wilson participates in the E-Verify program.Please note that non-solicited resumes from external recruitment agencies will not be considered as introductions to our business unless a preapproved agreement is in place and the external recruitment agency has been engaged to work on this specific vacancy.
