Range is dependent on experience:Veterinary Assistant: $18 - $23 per hourRegistered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $24.00 - $35.00 per hourVeterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $31.00 - $40.00 per hourAbout the Role:
As a Blood Bank Coordinator, our responsibilities will include:Perform blood collection from donor pets.Maintain blood bank operations in accordance with California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) regulations.Managing donations, including properly setting up with appropriate instruments and providing donors with treats and meals after their donations.Providing outstanding client communication and education, +/- participate in blood donor recruitment events. Maintain positive relations with blood donor clients.Maintaining general cleanliness of blood bank area, including: maintaining runs and processing equipment.Performing other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: intravenous catheter placement, drug dose calculation, venipuncture, blood pressure reading, acquiring radiographs and hourly treatments. Assisting other departments as needed.Ensuring that blood products are being processed in an aseptic manner, while maintaining the highest level of accuracy in all calculations and labeling.Preparing products for shipping and delivery when needed, keeping detailed documentation.Work directly with criticalists to coordinate exams, new donor enrollment screenings and managing blood product availability.Perform in-house lab diagnostics pertaining to blood transfusions and blood donor enrollment.Blood donor advocacy to ensure safe blood donation practice.Ensure tender, loving care and positive reinforcement during all donor interactions.Maintain blood product inventory and place orders from CDFA regulated blood banks.About You:Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician/Assistant in an animal hospital setting required.Currently licensed as RVT in the state of California (or will be within 6 months of hire).Proficiency in venipuncture, processing basic laboratory specimens and medical terminology required.Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in all related blood bank duties.Benefits:Highly competitive and comparable wages based on experience and skill setPartnership with Purdue VT program/scholarshipsCompetitive Vet Assistant and RVT CE allowance annuallyVetBloom access: Race approved continuing education, training and curriculum libraryLicense application and renewal reimbursement for RVT’sFinancial support and onsite mentorship toward pursuit of VTSHealth and wellness programs including access to League wellness appOpportunities for growth and advancement75% Employee Pet discountIn-house Social WorkerFull-time benefits include health, dental, vision, disability and life insurances, flex-spending accounts, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, 3 weeks accrued paid time off, and uniformsEthos is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
