About this role:

The Oncology Translational Research (OTR) Department at Novartis Biomedical Research is a global, laboratory-based research group, supporting the development of novel therapeutics in the Novartis Biomedical Research Oncology Disease Area. Within OTR, the Oncology Pathology and Biomarkers (OPB) group uses tissue-based, cell-based and soluble protein assays to understand target epidemiology and biology, mechanisms of action of drugs, and response/resistance biomarkers, ranging from early stages of target identification through Phase 3 clinical trials. OPB is seeking a motivated Senior Scientist to develop tissue-based biomarker assays (e.g., IHC, ISH, and FIHC) to advance Novartis oncology programs.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

Independently develop singleplex and multiplex IHC and FIHC automated assays to support clinical trials.

Interpret experimental data, provide data analysis and suggest next steps.

Conduct routine image analysis using established platforms like HALO.

Assist with transfer of assays to contract research organizations (CROs).

Serve as point of contact for project teams and researchers, both within and outside the organization.

Present data and conclusions at internal meetings.

Support external publications and presentations as needed.

Deliver high-quality data to impact drug discovery and projects in clinical development.

Support a range of modalities and disease indications within Oncology.

Essential Requirements:

This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel.

Minimum of BS (MS preferred) in Biological Sciences or related field.

3 years of industry experience developing singleplex and multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence tissue-based assays.

Experience working with teams in a matrixed environment and serving as point of contact for projects.

High degree of organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Track record of independent experimental design and execution.

Must be independent, well-organized and adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary Range

$92,800.00 - $139,200.00
