To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware.

We are looking for a

Senior Software Engineer

to join our Manufacturing Test Tool Development team, developing and automating test contents which supports stress, functional and configuration testing for our AI products. Responsibilities

Design, develop and support test tools and programs through automation and code development to screen server system components at manufacturing.Support and extend a robust workflow framework to ensure product quality.Work with manufacturing test engineers to develop and support existing test solutions to enable novel testing following the assembly process of PCBAs, storage enclosures, and racked assemblies within the ODM & Contract Manufacturer sites.Work with peer developers and Architects to develop robust, maintainable, and stable code in a CI/CD environment.Partner with other developers and data scientists to filter, analyze, and interpret data from manufacturing and data centers.Work with hardware engineers, FW developers, tool developers, validation engineers, and component suppliers to come up with the most efficient and effective test content for manufacturing.Drive test optimizations to increase manufacturing throughput and reduce the cost without compromising product quality level.Able to take on difficult challenges and communicate across organizational boundaries.Interface with internal reliability and qualification teams to drive parity between test coverage from reliability and qualification to manufacturing.Leads the development of tests to catch manufacturing defects and ensures reusability of existing tests.Drives improvement of effectiveness and efficiency by leveraging information gathered from process/test-system to identify and remove non-value elements from products.Defines key performance indicators (KPIs), determines how to evaluate metrics, and translates decisions into business value (e.g., return on investment [ROI]).Oversees implementation of set target/test cases, rationalizes cost of targets and maps targets to customer impact.Works across teams to ensure that verification process is stable enough that there is enough time in the schedule to fully complete verification.Ensures that each program/product has documentation specifying what needs to be tested and covered at all product stages.Ensures adequate test coverage to prevent escapes.Defines test content requirements and specifications.Embody our Culture and Values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Rust, C++, Java, or Python.OR equivalent experience.4+ years of work experience in software for cloud/enterprise, consumer electronics design, or hyperscale supply chain systems.4+ years experience with software development flow and any kind of source code control.1+ years development experience with Rust.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, Python.OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Rust, C, C++, or Python.OR equivalent experience.Experience with server products is a plus.Familiar with CPU or ARM test tool development, direct experience in incorporating them into manufacturing test flows.Working knowledge of computer subsystems, component interfaces, add-on boards, electronic test equipment.Computer component FW or driver development.Proficient in complex Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), 3+ years’ experience is preferred.Familiar with Linux operating system. Working knowledge of computer subsystems, component interfaces, add-on boards.Experience in any phase of FPGA or ARM product development (concept, design, implementation, test, and production) is a plus.Experience in Functional Test technical manufacturing facilities or at contract manufacturing site with high-volume production as a Manufacturing Test Engineer is a plus.Capability of troubleshooting with the engineering team on manufacturing-related issues with test systems and storage enclosure products is a plus.Willing to travel, domestic & international, and to work off hours to support business in Asia.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
