Our Utility Services Technicians are often the first point of connection for the district’s interactions with its customers and serves as the frontline connection to the community. Not everyone knows our operations but every community member knows our monthly bills - an accurate meter read and a friendly face play a huge role in whether or not our customers have a positive experience. We are looking for a dedicated and professional Utility Services Supervisor to join our team and continue to shape the strong community connections we have developed and continue to implement, maintain, and continuously improve our advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
This role will be responsible for supervising the meter services program which includes reading, installing, inspecting, and testing water meters, fire hydrant meters, and advanced metering infrastructure equipment as well as supervising a talented and dedicated team of meter technicians. The ideal candidate for this role is a proven leader of people and implementer of systems.
The Day to Day:
Leadership:
Supervise the meter services team, including performance management, planning, training and certification maintenance.
Relationships:
Act as liaison with other departments and committees, ensuring smooth operations.
Customer Service:
Interact with customers regarding meter readings, accounts, and inquiries.
Maintenance:
Oversee meter reading, repairs, and testing, as well as infrastructure management.
Scheduling:
Develop procedures, manage hardware and software, and maintain records.
Project Management:
Lead AMI system maintenance, infrastructure projects, and process improvement.
Budgeting:
Manage inventory, equipment orders, and departmental budget.
Data Analysis:
Review consumption reports, troubleshoot data issues, and maintain records.
Teamwork:
Coordinate with other departments, support customer service, and respond to emergencies.
Safety:
Ensure safety compliance and promote a culture of safety among staff.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Experience: Five (5) years of experience involving the maintenance, repair, and installation of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) including experience in administration, planning, operation, purchasing, scheduling, project management, etc. Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures related to water and wastewater utility services (plumbing, fire suppression systems, inspection work are relevant to this role).
Backflow prevention and cross connection control knowledge preferred.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain, within a set timeframe, a Colorado Water Distribution Technician IV and Wastewater Collection Technician IV Certification.
A strong candidate for this role has demonstrated implementation, problem solving, and project management skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills are essential to the role as well as an ability to manage a large variety of tasks and deadlines in a positive and productive manner.
Proven customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.
Research, data analysis and math skills are required.
This role will spend a lot of time working with a computer so proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required.
Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of local area preferred.
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license within 30 days of full-time employment and be insurable under District’s standards.
Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first six (6) months of employment.
The Schedule:
This position will work five eight hour shifts with some flexibility in start and time. This position is NOT required to work in an on call capacity.
Pay Range:
The hiring range for this role is 93,947.78 – 117,434.72. The overall pay range for this role is 93,947.78 – 140,921.66.
